ADVANCE provided a list of 290 hospitals in the New York/New Jersey Metro Area and invited readers to rank their facility by responding on a 1-5 scale to 10 statements in five different categories.
From this list, participants voted on 91 different hospitals. A minimum number of three participants had to vote on a hospital in order for it to be part of the calculations. Twenty-four hospitals made that cut.
We then took the total score for each question and determined the average score per hospital per category. The highest possible average score was 5, but no regional hospitals achieved this. The highest average score was 4.
Each of the 11 hospitals in the Readers' Choice list scored a 4 in that category. Hospitals listed in at least four out of five categories are included the Readers' Choice Honor Roll.
