ADVANCE provided a list of 291 hospitals in New England and invited readers to rank their facility by responding on a 1-5 scale to 10 statements in five different categories. From this list, participants voted on 83 different hospitals. A minimum number of three participants had to vote on a hospital in order for it to be part of the calculations. Seventeen hospitals made that cut. We then took the total score for each question and determined the average score per hospital per category. The highest possible average score was 5, but only one hospital achieved this in one category. The highest average score was 4. Each hospital in the 2007 Readers' Choice list scored a 4 in that category. Hospitals listed in at least four out of five categories are in the Readers' Choice Honor Roll.
