Raquel "Kelly" Walker, RN-BC, clinical nurse specialist for women's, infant's and children's services at Roper St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH), Charleston, SC, has been elected to the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) 2010 board of directors.
According to officials, Walker will serve as Region VI director representing Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
"It's a great honor to be elected to help lead such a vital organization, and Kelly's background and expertise will be a great asset to the AWHONN board of directors," said Laura Celia, BSN, RNC, service line director for RSFH's women's, infant's and children's services.
Walker was also elected to AWHONN's first class of emerging leaders in 2007 and is one of six newly elected members to the AWHONN board. In the coming year, the AWHONN board will focus its attention on its mission to improve and promote the health of women and newborns, officials said.
