ADVANCE attended the Maryland Nurses Association's 106th Convention Oct. 15 at the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies in Linthicum, MD. While there, we sat down with one of the top nurse leaders in the field, Rosemary Mortimer, MEd, MSN, RN, president of MNA and instructor of nursing at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore to discuss the current and future state of nursing.
This year Mortimer was honored with the National Student Nurses Association's "Leader of Leaders Award" at their annual event in Nashville. The prestigious award is presented to an outstanding dean, faculty advisor or state consultant who demonstrates distinguished support and service to nursing students.
In this video, Mortimer explains the benefits to joining professional nursing organizations, and addresses new graduates who are having trouble finding jobs in this tough economy. Learn why she says new grads shouldn't get frustrated - but should be following Dow Jones on the New York Stock Market Exchange.
