Cooper Nurses Win National Award
Emergency department and ICU collaborative critical care support team nurses at Cooper University Hospital, Camden, NJ, recently received a Circle of Excellence Award from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
The multidisciplinary team developed protocols for hypothermia treatment for patients with postcardiac arrest syndrome and adopted the International Sepsis Campaign Treatment Algorithm for septic shock in adult patients.
Choitz Receives ACNM Award
Rebecca Choitz, MSN, CNM, practice director of the Midwives of Delaware County, Upper Darby, PA, and director of midwifery services for Crozer-Keystone Health System, recently received a 2008 Regional Award for Excellence from the American College of Nurse Midwives.
Over the past year, Choitz helped negotiate final passage of a bill granting prescriptive authority to CNMs in Pennsylvania. She also is a member of the clinical faculty of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Bayhealth Nurses Take Three Delaware Awards
Nurses from Bayhealth Medical Center's Kent General and Milford Memorial hospitals, Dover and Milford, DE, won three of the six award categories at the July 17 Delaware Excellence in Nursing Practice Awards ceremony, hosted by the Delaware Nurses Association in coordination with the Delaware Organization of Nurse Executives.
Dawn Culp, MSN, RN, SANE-AFNE, received the acute care award; Andrea Holecek, MSN, MBA, APN, AOCNS, received the advanced practice award; and Carol Ritter-Soots, MBA, RN, received the nurse leader award.
In addition, a number of Bayhealth Medical Center nurses were nominated for awards. Nominated for nurse leader were Kim Cole, BSN, RN; Marianne Foard, MS, RN, Lana Gordineer, MSN, RN, Joyce Hill, MSN, RN, CCRN, Pam James, MSN, RN, Karen Kelly, BSN, RN, and Karen Palmer, RN.

At the ceremony, Heidi LeGates, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, gave the keynote address on her passion for nursing, and Hill sang "Go Light Your World."
Mercy Suburban Names VP
Nat'e Parker-Guyton, MSN, RN, CNA-BC, was recently named vice president of nursing at Mercy Suburban Hospital, East Norriton, PA. Parker-Guyton was previously senior director of nursing operations at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, DE.
As part of her duties, Parker-Guyton will serve on the hospital's senior management team.

Darcy Receives Scholarship
Ashley Darcy, BSN, RN, a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, was recently awarded the National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners' Ovation Pharmaceuticals Neonatal Nursing Scholarship. Darcy will receive the scholarship at the association's annual meeting in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, next month, where she will also present a concurrent session.
Upsilon Rho Selected For Showcase
The Upsilon Rho Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing, Thomas Edison State College, Trenton, NJ, will be recognized at the 2008 Regional Showcase of Excellence during the STTI Leadership Academy in Indianapolis Sept. 25-27.
