Naperville Hospital Earns Level III Perinatal Redesignation
Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL, was redesignated as a level III facility for perinatal services by the Illinois Department of Public Health, a status the hospital has held since 2002. The designation indicates Edward is able to provide the most advanced care in perinatology. The hospital also has a level III NICU, a requirement for a level III perinatal facility.
Edward's perinatal care includes intermediate and intensive care plus diagnosis and treatment of high-risk pregnancy and neonatal problems; pediatric and neonatal surgery; and support services such as anesthesiology, radiology, neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology. Additional features include intensive care nursing, respiratory care, genetic counseling, nutrition, pharmacy and social work; an obstetrician present in the hospital 24 hours a day; maternal-fetal medicine consultation available 24 hours a day and a NICU nursing staff with at least 50 percent of its members possessing 2 years or more experience in a level III NICU.
