Unique Wellness has sold 1 million of its WellnessBriefs to adults suffering from incontinence since they were introduced in December 2008.
"Millions of Americans are afflicted with urinary incontinence, but have had to suffer needlessly because the adult briefs on the market for the past 50 years simply do not have an absorption rate high enough to be effective," said Steve Goelman, CEO of Unique Wellness. "Adults with incontinence can now have the security and confidence that goes with knowing their brief will keep them dry and comfortable for a much longer period of time, offering a true and dramatic improvement in their quality-of-life."
WellnessBriefs absorb wetness and lock away liquid from the wearer's skin, negating odor, as well as other problems like skin irritation and urinary tract infections.
While the average adult brief can hold up to 24 ounces of liquid, Unique Wellness' WellnessBriefs can hold up to 87 ounces of liquid. WellnessBriefs only need to be changed on average two to three times a day, compared with seven to 10 with other briefs.

Baxa Introduces New Feeding System for NICUs
The new NeoThrive Enteral Feeding System from Baxa Corp. combines visual cues and clear identification to ensure enteral connections are made safely in NICUs.
NeoThrive uses distinct "enteral only" orange coloring and a specialty connector to eliminate the risk of serious IV-line misconnections.
The NeoThrive System includes the NeoThrive Enteral Syringes - the first syringes designed only for enteral feeding. With their unique, non-luer tips, the syringes will not mate to standard luer connections, preventing error connection to an IV line.
In addition, the NeoThrive Enteral Pump functions only with the NeoThrive Enteral Syringes, preventing the use of an IV syringe for enteral feeding.
To better educate clinicians about enteral feeding misconnections, Baxa has produced several educational components on its Web site at www.baxa.com/neothrive. More information is also available by calling 800-567-2292.
Single-Use Nasal Spray Prevents Spread of Germs
With applicators that are discarded after just one use, Cleanoz Single Use Saline Nasal Spray from Ubimed prevents cross contamination during cold and flu season.
The Cleanoz Single Use Saline Nasal Spray comes in small, travel-size, easy-to-use sterile applicators containing 0.169 ounces of purified water, 0.9 percent sodium chloride and no preservatives. The container is enough for a single dose and small enough to fit in a pocket or purse.
Each Cleanoz Single Use Saline Nasal Spray package contains 20 individual applicators.
"People today are more concerned than ever about bacterial cross contamination," said Jose Bensoussan, MD, president of Ubimed. "Although most consumers recognize the health risks they face when using the same nasal spray applicator over and over again, or even sharing them with other members of their family, until now they really haven't had a choice."

FDA Clears New Device to Ease Catheter Placement
The DirectVision System from PercuVision LLC enables nurses to see the inside of the urethra when placing urinary catheters.
The FDA recently cleared the device, which was invented by Errol Singh, MD, FACS, a practicing urologist and CEO of PercuVision. Singh said the device solves the problem of blindly inserting a catheter.
"The problem with a blind insertion is a nurse does not know the location of the catheter or what is preventing the catheter from advancing," Singh said. "The nurse is really driving blindly; guessing whether to push the catheter forward or manipulate it to get around a point of resistance. Risk of injury increases the more the catheter is manipulated."
According to the CDC, one in four patients hospitalized in the U.S. is catheterized to void the bladder or monitor urinary output during surgery.
"Using DirectVision, you see what is ahead. You know when to push, when to turn and in which direction," he added.

New Dansko Shoe Collections Promote Good Foot Health
Two new shoe collections - Acadia and Belmont - from Dansko have received the Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).
The Acadia collection, released in August, has a lightweight base and lower profile. The collection features a removable triple density molded EVA insole, which is not only designed for comfort but has a slip-resistant outsole and allows wearers to use custom orthotics, if needed.
The Belmont collection, featuring a sleek silhouette and a 2? inch heel, is available in hand-antiqued brown or classic black leathers.
The APMA's Seal of Acceptance is used to designate footwear, hosiery and other foot-related products that promote good foot health.
"The excess strain put on the legs and feet of those standing for long periods of time can take a massive toll on the body - especially for those working in the healthcare community," said Ronald Jensen, DPM, president of APMA.
