Managing Chronic Constipation

Constipation can cause or aggravate urinary/bladder problems. Chronic straining can to push out stools puts undue pressure on the pelvic floor muscles, causing them to stretch and weaken. When the rectum is full of stool, it may push against the bladder and cause a false sense of urgency and frequency.vegetables

For those reasons and more, chronic constipation is dangerous to your health. Drinking plenty of fluids, increasing dietary fiber and staying as active as possible are just a few of the ways to encourage more regular bowel movements

Our patient handout details more simple strategies for managing chronic constipation
