Building a Green Environment

Anne Arundel Medical Center is taking steps to give its patients and employees a healthier green environment

Former pediatric nurse Charlotte Wallace, RN, sustainability coordinator at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Annapolis, Md. has made it her mission to help her facility go green. Since she took up the cause six years ago, AAMC has become the first LEED certified hospital acute care tower in the state. New policies and programs in purchasing, waste management, surgical services, dining and even labor and delivery have helped the facility create a safer and healthier environment - all while saving money. Hear what Wallace has to say about her efforts to protect patients, staff and the community through green practices.
