Children's Hospital Boston ranks first in more specialties than any other children's hospital in the nation, according to the 2011-12 edition of Best Children's Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
Children's Hospital Boston ranks first in six out of the 10 specialties including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and urology.
Children's Hospital Boston is the only hospital to place in the top three in all 10 specialties. It ranks second in diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, and neonatology and third in pulmonology. Children's Hospital Boston is ranked first on an Honor Roll of the 11 hospitals that excelled in at least four of the 10 U.S. News specialty rankings.
"We're honored by this recognition from U.S. News, but it really is in our patients' and families' eyes where we want to be No. 1," said James Mandell, MD, CEO of Children's Hospital Boston. "We see this as a challenge to innovate and push care forward, so we can offer the very best care and service to our families every day."
"The rankings reflect the unique value that our team of caregivers, researchers, employees and volunteers strive to provide to our families every day," adds Sandra Fenwick, President and COO of Children's Hospital Boston.
