Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital announced the appointment of Mary Schleinzer, MS, RN, as director of patient safety.
Schleinzer comes to Good Samaritan Hospital from Hines Veteran Affairs Hospital, where she was patient safety manager.
Good Samaritan Hospital's goal is to reduce serious safety events by 80 percent over the next five years.
Schleinzer's experience also includes working as a clinical analyst for risk management at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, sentinel event specialist at The Joint Commission and numerous nursing positions. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing at Loyola University and a master's degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Schleinzer's nursing career began in 1981.
