Fort Worth, TX: Nurse Earns Clinical Excellence Award

Harold Magee, BSN, RN, a nurse manager at Texas Health Southwest, has won the Student Excellence in Clinical Nursing Award from the University of Texas at Arlington's School of Nursing for the fourth consecutive year.

Magee, who serves as manager of the nursery and NICU at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth, is slated to complete his master's degree in nursing administration in May.

The award is presented each semester to nursing students who consistently exceed clinical performance standards in the application of theoretical concepts, evidence-based practice and communication; demonstrate exemplary performance in the use of critical thinking and problem solving skills; and show exemplary performance in the application of leadership principles and professionalism.

"Harold not only likes a challenge, he requests challenging work to enhance his growth as a nurse leader," said Jeannette Crenshaw, MSN, RN, IBCLC, LCCE, NEA-BC, instructor at the university. "He embraces opportunities to implement evidence-based clinical and operational practices, and to improve healthcare quality and patient safety."

Magee received his BSN from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2008. Before joining Texas Health Southwest, he was the nursing supervisor of the NICU at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst Euless Bedford from 2002 until 2010.
