Fort Worth, TX  - Texas Health Southwest Low-Dose Scanner Reduces Radiation Exposure

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth is the first hospital in Tarrant County to offer a 64-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner with a new adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction technique that can produce quality images with up to 40 percent less radiation, according to David Robinson, MD, medical director, radiology.

"We are so pleased to offer low dose radiation scans to our patients," said Cathy Johnson, RN, director, women's services. "Limiting radiation exposure is particularly important for women of child-bearing age because fetal tissues are more susceptible to radiation injury."
