Lafayette, IN - IU Health Arnette Offers New Cancer Treatment

Indiana University Health Arnett Cancer Services, including Horizon Oncology Center, is one of ten sites in Indiana, and the only location in Lafayette, to treat advanced prostate cancer patients with autologous cellular immunotherapy, a treatment that uses the patients own immune cells to fight cancer.

The treatment is designed to stimulate a patient's immune system to identify and target prostate cancer cells. Each dose is manufactured specifically for each patient using his immune cells. No toxins are employed to fight cancer, though physicians may use it in conjunction with therapies that do use toxins.

The most common side effects are chills, fatigue, fever, back pain, nausea, joint ache and headache.
