Leslie Brown, BSN, RN, WCC, recently completed her certification in diabetic wound care (DWC) through the National Alliance of Wound Care and the Wound Care Education Institute.

Brown manages the Wound Care Center at Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center.

Brown said she was able to further her nursing education thanks to a healthcare scholarship she received from the Paris Community Hospital Volunteers. She was one of three area students to receive a $1,000 scholarship for the 2012-2013 school year.

The diabetic wound care certification program focuses on overall diabetic wound care and promotion of an optimal wound hearing environment. It teaches prevention, as well as therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions.
