Washington County, MN -- Public Nurse Program to Expand

The Board of Commissioners approved a $280,200 grant to add two nurses in Washington County, MN, through March 2015. The expansion means an extra 50 families will be served through the program.

The program's goals are to improve school readiness and parent-child attachment, reduce child abuse and neglect and promote healthy pregnancies and normal child growth and development.

The grant comes from the Minnesota Department of Health. By using the Healthy Families America home visiting nurse model, the county is eligible to receive state funds to expand the program.
