Westminster, MD - Carroll Hospital Earns NICHE Certification

Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster, MD, recently earned the Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) designation. NICHE certification demonstrates the specialized training of hospital staff in caring for and treating older adults.

Three NICHE leadership team members participated in the NICHE certification program that led to the hospital's designation: Stephanie Reid, MBA, BSN, RN, Karen Lee, RN, and Michelle Rivers, RN.
These nurses will oversee initiatives to train other staff nurses in providing specialized care for older adults.

"With this certification, Carroll Hospital Center will be able to enhance its care of geriatric patients," said Reid, chief nursing officer and assistant vice president of nursing. "Our nursing staff will have access to materials, resources and educational tools that will broaden their knowledge of the social and physical needs of older patients and better enable them to provide the specialized treatment these patients need."

Carroll Hospital Center is one of 340 hospitals in the United States to earn NICHE certification.
