The Emergency Nurses Association Arizona State Chapter will hold its annual conference Saturday, April 16, at Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn. The day-long meeting will begin and end with messages from Gail Pisarcik Lenehan, EdD, MSN,RN, FAEN, FAAN, ENA president-elect and clinical nurse specialist in the emergency department at Massachusetts General Hospital. In between will be a number of sessions devoted to current topics in emergency nursing.
Lenehan's key note, Pearls of Wisdom, highlights quick assessments of psychiatric patients at triage and beyond. At the end of the day, she'll share information about ENA and what the organization can do for its members.
Timely topics to be discussed include infectious diseases, pediatric drowning, spinal trauma, air embolus, missed injuries in trauma, traumatic pelvic fracture and sudden arrhythmia death syndrome. Other sessions include a look at the current ED literature, a "maintenance manual" for geriatrics, training with a pediatric simulator and CEN Jeopardy, where participants will learn answers to questions in a fun way.
