Each year, the ADVANCE for Nurses Best Nursing Team contest generates hundreds of entries from units and facilities all over the regions of the country ADVANCE currently serves with a print publication.
To participate, entrants wrote an essay about their team's one defining moment for the past year. The defining moment was based on one of these core values: Initiative, Adaptability, Expertise and Outreach.
They had 1,000 words to describe examples of how their team embodies the selected core value in a defining moment that makes the team stand out from other nursing teams.
A panel of prestigious judges from each region evaluated the entries, awarding a score from 0-5 based on each of the core values and evidence of effective teamwork, communication and cooperation.
