The older adult population, which was 39.6 million in 2009, is expected to increase to 72.1 million by the year 2030. This will lead to an increased need for healthcare providers who specialize in caring for the older adult. The aging process varies among individuals, but most people will experience some physical, social or psychological deficits as they age. This webinar will provide participants with an overview of the unique knowledge and skills required to care for the older adult.

Objectives:
 Identify the unique issues that older patients experience.
 Discuss the physical, social and psychological changes that older patients may experience.
 Discuss medication safety and the older patient.
 Explain the significance of teamwork and collaboration when caring for older patients.

Florida participants: Do not send certificate to the Board of Nursing - keep it for your records for four (4) years. Only Florida and California require license numbers to appear on the certificate. All states except Iowa accept Merion Matters continuing education credits for contact hours. Sessions are not pre-approved for non-nursing credit. It is the individual's responsibility to validate contact hours with their accrediting body.
